Barcelona and Real Madrid have reportedly tabled formal offers to secure the signing of Valencia’s teenage prodigy Fabio Blanco at the end of the season.
According to a report from Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, the race for the signing of Valencia’s 17-year-old wonderkid, Fabio Blanco, is heating up as both Barcelona and Real Madrid have submitted formal proposals to secure the teenager’s signing.
Blanco, 17, is a product of the Valencia youth academy and currently plays for their Juvenil A team. The right-winger has been compared to former Los Che star Ferran Torres due to the similarity in their style of play and is held in high regard within the club.
However, his future has become a hot topic of speculation over the past couple of weeks as he reaches the end of his contract with Valencia at the end of the season. This has alerted a host of clubs across Europe, with Barcelona and Real Madrid among those teams.
Barcelona’s interest in Blanco is being driven by their new sporting director Mateu Alemany, who was with Valencia before and was responsible for the teenager’s last contract extension with the club. Alemany is said to have a good relationship with the player’s representatives and has already got in touch with them over a possible move to the Catalan club.
However, they are now set to face competition from arch-rivals Real Madrid, who are also said to be desperate to add him to the club’s junior ranks. The Spanish champions are looking to build a strong youth structure and have been scouring the market for young talents with Blanco being one among them along with former Barcelona trainee Victor Munoz Villanueva.
To that end, Real Madrid, just like Barcelona, are already said to have tabled a formal offer to secure the services of Blanco when his deal with Valencia runs out at the end of the season. Apart from these two clubs, there is also strong interest in the teenager from Juventus, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
Ligue 1 outfit Olympique Marseille too are said to be keen with their sporting director, Pablo Longoria, well aware of Blanco’s potential from his time at Valencia. In fact, Longoria is said to be held in high regard by the young winger’s family, which could give Marseille an edge in the pursuit.
Nevertheless, Alemany’s past association with Blanco and Barcelona’s strong relationship with his representatives may just prove to be enough for the Catalans to beat Real Madrid and the rest of the competition to the teenage starlet’s signing.
