Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Paulo Dybala from Juventus, who has also been linked with Premier League rivals Chelsea.
According to a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato.it, Premier League giants Manchester United have been offered a chance to sign Argentine superstar Paulo Dybala from Serie A champions Juventus in the summer.
Dybala, 27, has been with Juventus since 2015, having joined from Palermo and has tasted a lot of success in his time at Turin. However, the 2020/21 campaign has been a dreadful one for the Argentine attacker as he has struggled to carve out a place in the starting XI under the management of Andrea Pirlo.
To make matters worse, Dybala has been out with a ligament injury since January, restricting him to just 16 appearances in all competitions this term, in which he has managed three goals and two assists. With the Argentine international’s contract up in the summer of 2022, talks of a potential exit later this year have been gaining traction.
Recent reports had claimed that Chelsea, along with Tottenham Hotspur were willing to offer as much as €55 million to secure Dybala’s services from Juventus in the upcoming transfer window. And now, as per the aforementioned report, their Premier League rivals Manchester United have been offered a chance to land the 27-year-old.
Manchester United’s season has been a bit of a roller-coaster ride so far. While there have been quite a few positives over the course of the campaign, it once again feels like the Red Devils will be ending up with no tangible success to show for, having most recently crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of Leicester City.
So, heading into the new season, there is likely to be plenty of activity on the transfers front, with attack one department where investment is expected to be made. Edinson Cavani’s contract is up at the end of the season while Anthony Martial has once again flattered to deceive, so much so that the club are pondering over a sale.
So, a new forward will be the need of the hour for Manchester United come the end of the season. While this has seen them get linked to Borussia Dortmund’s rising star Erling Haaland, the 20-time English champions have now been offered the services of another elite attacker in the form of Dybala.
Juventus, as per the report, would likely demand €50-55 million for his services. Although, there is the possibility of Paul Pogba getting involved in a potential player-plus-cash deal as the Frenchman is entering the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and remains firmly on the radars of the Bianconeri.
What now remains to be seen is whether Manchester United take up the opportunity to land Dybala in the upcoming transfer window or if they decide to continue their pursuit of Haaland to bolster the attacking unit.
