Transfer News: Liverpool keen on signing Lucas Ocampos

Liverpool unwilling to pay Romeo Lavia asking price.

Premier League giants Liverpool have reportedly set their eyes on Sevilla’s left-winger Lucas Ocampos, as The Reds look to bolster their attack next season.

According to the recent report from Spanish publication La Razon, Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the status of Sevilla starlet Lucas Ocampos, as Jurgen Klopp desires to add the player to his scheme by signing him in the next summer transfer window.

The Argentine forward joined the Spanish side back in 2019 from the French Side Marseille, and within no time the player started to unfold his credibility in a supreme manner. Lucas Ocampos had played a prime part for Los Nervionenses in his very first season, wherein his performances were one of the main reasons behind Sevilla’s UEFA Europa League win.

The Argentine forward’s decisiveness inside the final third had rattled the cages of opposition halves on many occasions in the 2019/20 season. But with just 7 goals and 4 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions, the player has been going through a rugged phase in this campaign, which has certainly been a concerning sight for Los Nervionenses manager Julen Lopetegui.

Having not been able to maintain his rhythm, Sevilla are considering to sell the player in the next summer transfer window, where his departure could generate much-needed revenue for his present club. Meanwhile, the Spanish side were not able to earn a decent amount of cash in spite of shedding some of those promising figures in this season’s summer window, and quite understandably, it justifies their decision to take the desperate measurement.

Jose Mario Ruiz, general manager of the Sevilla FC has expressed his thoughts in a recent interview, where he stated, “The difference this season is that we have not made a big sale, but we will have to do it throughout this year if we want to build a great squad again. Once the season is over, we will surely have offers for the players and that decision will have to be made.”

However, The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has been thoroughly monitoring the advancement of the player, as the Sevilla No. 5 could enhance the options in the attacking region. The Merseyside team are hanging on the 6th spot of the league table in this particular campaign, and their lack of intent in the final third squandered their plod to retain the Premier League trophy.

Liverpool have been venturing through different options in their hunt for the proper forward. However, The Reds are the favourites among clubs who expressed their interest in FC Shalke attacker Matthew Hoppe. The 19-year-old American sensation remains in contention, who could emerge as the surprising element in the forthcoming season at Anfield.

For now, all it remains, whether Liverpool will pounce on the opportunity to sign this Argentine forward by splashing 65 million in the next summer transfer window or Jurgen Klopp will sacrifice one of his comrades to reduce the sum in the process.
