Real Madrid are reportedly keeping a close watch on 18-year-old Argentine sensation Maximo Perrone who plays for Velez Sarsfield.
According to a report from Spanish publication AS, reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid have set their sights on Velez Sarsfield’s teenage sensation Maximo Perrone and could launch a move to sign him in the near future.
The 18-year-old has been with Velez’s academy since the age of six and has risen through the youth ranks, making all the right noises along the way. A left-footed midfielder, Perrone is yet to make his official first-team debut for the Argentine outfit but has featured for the club in friendlies.
Having turned 18 only last month, the midfielder signed his first professional deal with Velez Sarsfield not long ago, with his contract running till the summer of 2022. Regarded as one of the finest young footballers coming through in Argentina, Perrone has represented the national team at youth levels and was the captain of the Albiceleste U-16 side that won the Mundialito de Montaigu in 2019.
Perrone’s rise with Velez Sarsfield has alerted Real Madrid, who are said to be keeping close tabs on the midfielder for quite some time now. Indeed, the Merengues have been monitoring the midfielder since April 2019 and the club’s coaches have been left mighty impressed by the teenage sensation.
Despite still being very much a raw talent in the nascent stages of his career, Perrone has drawn comparisons to former Real Madrid and Argentina midfielder Fernando Redondo, due to his playing position and style. The report adds that the teenager has impressed with his technical ability, along with his maturity and decision-making.
Velez Sarsfield, of late, have earned a reputation of producing promising youngsters with immense potential. The likes of Agustin Mulet, Facundo Caseres and Thiago Almada, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United, are all rated very highly and Perrone is the latest prospect to have been tipped for a great future.
Given that both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are into their thirties, signing a young and promising midfielder like Perrone and grooming him to eventually become a first-team member would make sense from Real Madrid’s point of view. It now remains to be seen if Real Madrid do launch a move to sign the teenage midfielder in the near future.
