Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with Brazilian outfit Fluminense for the signing of prodigious 17-year-old talent Kayky.

According to a report from Brazilian outlet UOL, reigning Premier League champions Liverpool have entered into negotiations with Fluminense for the signing of teenage wonderkid Kayky.

17-year-old Kayky is regarded as the crown jewel of the Fluminense youth academy. A versatile forward who can play anywhere across the frontline, the Brazilian youngster has already been attracting a lot of interest from Europe, with Shakhtar Donetsk showing keenness to sign him up and now Liverpool entering the fray.

In fact, it is claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s side have already opened talks with the teenager’s representatives for the possibility of snapping up his signing.

The fact that they share a good relationship with Fluminense could play a role in their efforts to land the 17-year-old forward. Liverpool worked with Fluminense over a deal to sign promising goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga last summer and are hoping to strike a deal for Kayky in a similar manner.

The 17-year-old Kayky is yet to make his first-team debut for Fluminense. But the versatile attacker was an integral part of the club’s Under-17 outfit that won the Campeonato Brasileiro Under-17 2020 and is in the finals of the Copa do Brasil Sub-17 this year.

Liverpool have been focusing on strengthening their youth ranks of late, having recruited a number of promising young talents in recent months. Callum Scanlon made the switch to the Merseyside outfit from Birmingham City recently while the Reds are also set to sign Derby County sensation Kaide Gordon, beating competition from rivals Manchester United.

The aforementioned Pitaluga has slotted into Liverpool’s Under-18 side since arriving from Fluminense in the summer last year. The young goalkeeper has also made a couple of appearances for the club’s reserve team. And the Reds will be hoping that Kayky, should a deal go through, will also follow a similar progression.

Liverpool will not be able to bring the versatile forward on board until he turns 18 in June later this year. But, the Reds can agree on a deal to sign him and let him stay with Fluminense till he can be brought into the club.
