FC Porto are in talks with Manchester United regarding a move for Jesse Lingard, with the Portuguese giants willing to splash €10 million.

According to Todo Fichajes, FC Porto are ready to offer Jesse Lingard a way out of Old Trafford this month. They are in talks with Manchester United over a potential move for the Englishman, who is unhappy at Old Trafford following his lack of game-time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is also a target for Tottenham Hotspur.

Apart from Tottenham, FC Porto are set to face competition from the likes of Everton and Leicester City in pursuit of Lingard. But, none of them have managed to present an offer to Manchester United, with the Portuguese giants now willing to table a €10 million bid – making them the front-runners in this chase.

Lingard was most recently linked with a bizarre switch to Tottenham, with Jose Mourinho reportedly keen on a potential reunion amid the uncertain future of Dele Alli. However, it appears a switch to Porto could make more sense for the Manchester United star, who has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Lingard failed to muster 1,000 minutes of league football last season and is yet to even feature in a single Premier League match this term. He has fallen behind the likes of Mason Greenwood, Juan Mata and Daniel James in the pecking order. And with his contract expiring next year, cashing in on him this month could be the best option for Manchester United at the moment.

At Porto, the Englishman is likely to be considered as a direct replacement for Otavio, whose contract expires in the summer. Incidentally, Otavio has been linked with a move to Premier League, with Arsenal and Leicester City among clubs reportedly interested in his services.

The Brazilian’s departure could create a massive void in Porto’s creative unit. And that is where Lingard could come into the fray, as the 28-year-old seeks to rejuvenate his career in Portugal. As for Tottenham, they could be set to miss out on the Manchester United outcast

As for Manchester United, the potential departure of Lingard should get them closer to an overhaul, as the club looks to offload their fringe players. Although Solskjaer might face a bit of an issue regarding the overall depth in the side during the second half of the campaign, it is unlikely that the prolonged stay of the Englishman could do him any favours, as far as the quality is concerned.
