Liverpool have registered a late interest to secure the services of Sergio Ramos, who has been linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu.

According to El Chiringuito TV, Liverpool have emerged as the latest potential suitor for Sergio Ramos. The Real Madrid superstar has been tipped for a move away from Santiago Bernabeu, with his contract expiring at the end of the ongoing campaign.

The Spaniard, who is looking for a two-year contract extension at Real Madrid, has reportedly rejected a contract extension offer from the club recently, thus fueling speculation about his exit from the Spanish capital. It has, in turn, put clubs on red alert as the veteran is considered as one of the most successful defenders in the history of football.

Liverpool’s interest, however, doesn’t bode well for clubs like Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester City, both of whom have also been linked with a move for Ramos recently. PSG, in particular, are even ready to table a blockbuster offer as well as the promising of playing alongside Lionel Messi next season, in an attempt to lure the Real Madrid star to the French capital.

Manchester City can also offer a sizable contract for the Spanish international as they too are backed by Arab funds. As for the Reds, it appears unlikely that they would mind making a move for Ramos in an attempt to play him alongside Virgil van Dijk next season – in what could truly become an iconic defensive duo.

The player himself could fancy a move to Anfield as Liverpool are arguably the strongest team in England and indeed one of the best clubs in the world at the moment. They could thus offer the added incentive of winning more trophies, perhaps even the Premier League in his already decorated career.

For the more immediate future, however, shifting attention to Ramos seems rather unpractical as the Reds are in imminent need of defensive reinforcements in the ongoing January transfer window. The club has struggled with a host of injury-related woes in the defensive unit, with the likes van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all facing a spell on the sidelines.

As for Real Madrid, it appears they have already started their preparation for life without Sergio Ramos, identifying Jules Kounde as an ideal long-term replacement for the Spanish footballing legend.
