Transfer News: Dietmar Hamann tips Liverpool to sign Kingsley Coman to replace Mohamed Salah

Dietmar Hamann has tipped Liverpool to replace Mohamed Salah with Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman should the Egyptian leave in the summer.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, as relayed by The Sun, former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has tipped the Merseysiders to sign Bayern Munich ace Kingsley Coman in case superstar forward Mohamed Salah leave the club in the summer.

Salah, since arriving at Liverpool in the summer of 2017 from AS Roma, has grown into one of the most lethal forwards in the Premier League as well as Europe. The Egyptian international played integral roles in the Reds’ UEFA Champions League and Premier League triumphs over the past couple of years.

Reports last month claimed that Salah was unhappy at Liverpool. The attacker himself admitted to being disappointed after he was overlooked for captaincy in the UEFA Champions League game against Midtjylland. During the same interview, the 28-year-old refused to rule out a future move to Spain, sparking transfer speculations.

“I think Madrid and Barcelona are two top clubs. “Who knows what will happen in the future, but right now I am focused on winning the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool again,” Salah had said.

And Hamann believes that his former club should look at Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman to replace Salah, in case the former Chelsea man ends up moving to Spain in the summer. “For me, the best winger out there at the moment is Kingsley Coman.

“He’s two-footed, he’s quick, he’s very clever, great decision making and his finishing has improved a lot. Coman is the player. If Salah were to move, if he wants to go that is quite likely, that will have a knock-on effect. Liverpool will have to buy somebody. Whoever they sign, that team will need to buy a replacement. Things happen quickly,” Hamann said.

A product of the Paris Saint-Germain academy, Coman left France for Juventus in 2014 before moving to Bayern Munich a year later. Having initially moved on a two-year loan deal, the 24-year-old’s transfer was made permanent in the summer of 2017.

While the Frenchman has had to deal with several injury problems, he has grown into a pivotal player for Bayern Munich. In 176 appearances for the Bavarian giants, Coman has scored 36 goals, including the winning goal in the last season’s UEFA Champions League against PSG.

In the ongoing campaign, the 24-year-old has featured 15 times, bagging five goals and nine assists. A top winger on his day, with his peak years well ahead of him, he can be a good signing for Liverpool. However, any move to Anfield would hinge on Salah leaving the club, which seems a highly unlikely prospect at the moment.
