Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Brighton & Hove Albion sensation Yves Bissouma, who could cost around €35-€40 million.

According to a report by Defensa Central, Yves Bissouma has emerged as the latest target for Real Madrid. Zinedine Zidane is believed to be a huge admirer of the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder, who is enjoying an excellent campaign in the Premier League this season.

Bissouma is primarily being eyed as a cost-effective option in Real Madrid’s bid to add reinforcement in the holding midfield area. However, the 24-year-old could cost around €35-€40 million while the former European champions could also face stiff competition from big Engish clubs including Liverpool and Arsenal.

Zidane’s interest in Bissouma stems from the Malian international’s robust style of play. A defensive midfielder by trade, the 24-year-old is primarily known for his physical prowess and aggression that makes him an ideal option for the number six. role. He is, needless to say, proficient in breaking up plays and screening the backline from any potential danger.

It makes him quite similar to Real Madrid’s own superstar in Casemiro. The Brazilian, much like Bissouma at Brighton & Hove Albion this season, has once again been an integral part of Los Blancos midfield, providing the necessary cover for the depleted backline.

Although Casemiro, at the age of 28, still has a lot of offer, Real Madrid do lack a viable alternative in his position. A potential injury could thus create huge problems as the likes of Federico Valverde, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are equipped in a more offensive role. And that is where someone like Bissouma comes into the fray.

As iterated earlier, the Malian can provide the ideal characteristics that are tailor-made for Zidane’s direct attacking style of play. He has, in fact, attempted an impressive 4.2 tackles per game this season with a success rate of almost 80%. His pass completion rate of 86% is also indicative of his ability to circulate possession, thus making him an appealing target for Los Merengues.

Zidane could definitely use Bissouma as an understudy for Casemiro. His presence in the side should allow the Frenchman to rotate the squad and help better deal with the congested schedule of the 2020/21 campaign – a job that will become even more important during the second half of the campaign as the club looks to make an impact in the UEFA Champions League.
