Former Premier Leagues striker Kevin Phillips has tipped the Manchester clubs to set their sights on signing Jack Grealish over Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

According to the report by Football Insider, Manchester United and Manchester City are being urged to monitor the situation of Jack Grealish, who according to former Aston Villa striker Kevin Phillips, is expected to reassess his situation at the club in the summer. Both clubs are in need of a winger and after failing to sign Jadon Sancho, not only does Grealish seem a viable alternative but perhaps a better one too.

Jack Grealish has been born and bred in Aston Villa. He has been with them since 2001 when he was just 6 years old; now, he is their captain and talisman and is guiding them to new heights. Grealish made his Premier League debut in 2014 and has been through it all with the club.

From relegation from the Premier League in 2016 to getting promoted back in 2019, Grealish has become a key figure at Villa after a difficult start as a youngster.

The Englishman caught the eye of a lot of people for his showings in the 2019/20 Premier League season where he helped Aston Villa narrowly escape relegation. This feat made a move for Grealish much more difficult for England’s powerhouses who attempted to lure him to their project. Linked with several moves throughout the summer, Grealish, shockingly, put pen to paper and signed a new 5-year deal.

Since then, Grealish has become the centre of a lot of talk in England. He earned his first senior call-up for the English National team in September and received a lot of support from fans for a starting spot. Grealish has notched up 5 goals and 5 assists in just 9 games this season.

From the season that has been, it is clear that the Manchester clubs need some reinforcements. Manchester City have shown signs of struggling to score goals, with their over-reliance on Kevin De Bruyne for creativity being very apparent. With both Ferran Torres and Phil Foden still finding their feet, Man City have no one to really fill the shoes of Leroy Sane and David Silva.

Jack Grealish would be a perfect player for Pep Guardiola. Grealish has the ability to play from the left or right, or even as a number 10. Moreover, if there is anyone that can sign Grealish despite his new lucrative contract, it is the Cityzens.

Meanwhile, Manchester United, too, are in dire need of wingers. Perhaps, even more so than their Manchester rivals. United were in a two-month long tussle with Borussia Dortmund for the signature of Jadon Sancho but were unable to succeed in their pursuit.

The Red Devils did sign two young wingers on deadline day in the form of Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri, both 18. While it is safe to say that United have their future contingent sorted, they do need to add their firepower if they are to challenge for any titles in the present.

Grealish sorts that problem, with his ability to play from both wings. Grealish, 25, is a proven Premier League talent and has 5-7 years of his prime ahead of him. His new contract does make the situation much more complicated, however, with his improving performances, the Manchester powerhouses should explore the option of splurging £100 million on Grealish who is certainly a safe buy.

A talismanic figure whenever he plays, Grealish will bring character and creativity to these clubs and help them challenge for trophies once again.

Would love to see Grealish play for United, but with Woodward and the greedy Glazers
in charge of the purse strings, you’ve got to be joking! It took them forever to part with
£47m for Bruno. Anyway, Grealish would stick out like a sore thumb at OT, due to fact
that he enjoys playing football and shows it. Watching the team I’ve always loved is
    frankly painful at the moment.

Getting iether of the 2 would be great. Though we have invested quiet a bit with youngsters in that department. We have Greenwood, 2 at under 23s & 1 coming in January. We MUST work on our backline as a matter of urgency. And, we should be giving Dean & Taunzebe a lot of games. Team’s know how to penetrate our backline now. This inconsistency is giving us pulpitations whenever that usual backline is playing.
