Manchester United will not be accepting any offers for midfield superstar Paul Pogba this summer, super agent Mino Raiola has confirmed.
As revealed by reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Mino Raiola, the agent of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, has claimed that the Frenchman will be staying put at Old Trafford, with talks over a new contract set to begin soon.
Pogba signed for Manchester United from Juventus in 2016, four years after he had left the club on a free transfer. While he tasted success in his debut season at Old Trafford, things have been downhill for him ever since.
Issues with former manager Jose Mourinho, coupled with comments from Raiola himself have stirred up controversy after controversy. As a result, a return to Juventus had been mooted strongly, while Real Madrid had also been monitoring the Frenchman’s situation.
However, post-lockdown, the 28-year-old put behind the off-field issues and the injury problems that had plagued him throughout the 2019/20 season to finish strongly.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner struck up a brilliant partnership with January acquisition Bruno Fernandes and emerged as one of the best players in the final phase of the season, as Manchester United finished third in the Premier League, while making it to the semi-finals of the FA Cup and the UEFA Europa League.
Having grown into a key member of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, talks of a new contract for Pogba had been doing the rounds in the media.
And Raiola, who has been vocal about wanting to secure a move away for his client in the past, has confirmed that the Frenchman will be going nowhere this summer. In fact, the super agent also revealed that talks over a new contract should begin soon.
“Pogba is key player for Man Utd, they’ve an important project and he’s 100% included. Man Utd will not accept any bid on this summer to sell Pogba. We’re going to speak about a new contract soon, no stress,” he said.
Pogba’s current contract with Manchester United is set to run out in less than a year, although the club does have an option of extending it by a further twelve months. A new contract and extended stay at Old Trafford, is perhaps, the best course of action for the Frenchman as well.
