Liverpool are mulling over a £10 million move for Norwich City’s Jamal Lewis as they look at add defensive reinforcements this summer.
According to Mirror, Liverpool have set their sights on Jamal Lewis. The Norwich City star has been eyed as a potential option for Jurgen Klopp as he looks to add more reinforcements in the left-back position. The Reds are even looking to come up with a £10 million offer to sign the defender.
Although Lewis is keen to stay in the Premier League following his club Norwich City’s relegation in this past campaign, he is looking to move to a club who can guarantee first-team football. His desire for regular first-team action could, in fact, derail the potential negotiations.
On the flip side, though, Norwich City have expressed interest in Liverpool youth player, Yasser Larouci. The youngster, unlike his fellow teammate, Neco Williams, is yet to make himself an option for the senior side. Hence, a move away from Anfield could make sense, with the Canaries presenting themselves as an appealing destination.
Lewis, on the other hand, is the next relegated Premier League players to attract the interest of Liverpool this summer. The newly crowned Premier League champions have historically signed the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Xherdan Shaqiri and Andrew Robertson from clubs that were relegated to the second division.

We, at The Hard Tackle, had already piled up a list of three relegated players Liverpool should look to sign this summer – a list that notably included Lewis.
Speaking of Robertson, however, his presence in the Liverpool side is a major problem for Lewis. The 22-year-old, who has emerged as one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dire campaign for Norwich, could find his progress being stalled due to the fact that the Scot is the undisputed number one left-back for the Reds.
Although Lewis does have the talent to establish himself as a quality full-back, the lack of game-time at Anfield could seriously affect his development. For Liverpool, it is a completely different story.
As iterated earlier, their youth sensation, Larouci has not been able to emerge as a strong competitor to Robertson in the first-team. Lewis, in that regard, should provide better quality and ultimately improve the club’s depth in the defensive unit. It will help Klopp especially in rotation, which could play a crucial role next season.
Moreover, a fee of just £10 million also seems like a bargain for a player Lewis’ quality. And amid the coronavirus pandemic that has inflicted massive economic damage on European clubs, it could bode well for any Premier League club.
