Jurgen Klopp is expected to make a few changes when Liverpool face Newcastle United in their final game of the season.

Liverpool will lock horns with Newcastle United on Sunday as they look to end their 2019/20 campaign on a positive note. The newly-crowned champions are coming on the back of a 5-3 victory over Chelsea and manager Jurgen Klopp could make a few changes this weekend.

Fortunately for the German mastermind, he has no fresh injuries to deal with, meaning Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson remain the only players on the sidelines. Hence, we might once again witness the defensive combination of Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk starting at the heart of the four-man back-line. Alisson Becker should start in goal as usual.

Dejan Lovren is facing an uncertain future at the club and could be handed a substitute appearance on Sunday. Klopp, however, remained coy when asked about the Croat during his pre-match press conference.

“Nothing is decided so we don’t speak. If we cannot speak about potential departure we cannot speak about replacement. Nothing in the moment,” he said.

Elsewhere in defence, Trent Alexander-Arnold might be given a breather following his top-class performance against Chelsea. It should pave the way for youngster Neco Williams to start as the right-back while Andrew Robertson is a guaranteed starter on the left.

Moving forward, Klopp could make one change in central midfield, with the young Curtis Jones replacing Georginio Wijnaldum. He should partner Naby Keita and Fabinho in the middle of the park, with James Milner and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain providing Liverpool further options.

Club captain Henderson not being able to play in the final game would be a massive disappointment, though. Meanwhile, Adam Lallana is fit to feature and it will interesting to see whether or not Klopp does hand him an opportunity in what will be his last game for Liverpool.

Finally, in attack, we should not expect many changes, with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino all likely to retain their places in the starting lineup. However, Klopp could make full use of the substitution rule to provide additional opportunities to fringe stars like Xherdan Shaqiri, Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi and Harvey Elliott.
