Transfer News: Real Madrid ready to splash €50 million on Eduardo Camavinga

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to make a summer move for Stade Rennais whizkid Eduardo Camavinga, with a €50 million bid already in works.

According to Le10Sport, as relayed by TransferMarketWeb, Real Madrid are about to make their first move in the pursuit of Eduardo Camavinga. The Stade Rennais midfielder has been identified as one of the top targets for the Spanish giants, who are ready to come up with an opening bid of €50 million.

At Real Madrid, Camavinga is being considered as the long-term replacement for Toni Kroos or Luka Modric. He is also courted by Juventus and Borussia Dortmund. But, it seems Los Blancos are the frontrunners, which is not surprising at all, with the club poised for a massive squad overhaul in the summer.

The midfield department, in particular, could be revamped, especially with Modric nearing the final phase of his career. The Croat will turn 35 later this year and has already been linked with a move to Inter Milan earlier this year. As a result, Zinedine Zidane has barely hesitated using Federico Valverde, who has emerged as one of the rising stars in La Liga.

That being said, the Frenchman still needs a proper long-term option alongside the young Uruguayan, especially if Modric does leave the club in the summer. And that’s where Camavinga comes into the fray.

Much like Valverde, the Stade Rennais whizkid is now being regarded as one of the most talented young players playing in Europe. At the age of just 17, he has already established himself as a first-team regular for Rennes and that too, in one of the world’s top five footballing leagues.

Indeed, Camavinga has already notched up 25 appearances in Ligue 1 this term. His maturity, composure and awareness have provided a sense of security in the Rennes midfield, which has been essential in helping them compete with Marseille for second place in the league table this season.

It remains doubtful whether or not the youngster can replicate his performances in La Liga. But, given Real Madrid’s recent transfer trend of investing in young players with a lot of potential, Camavinga fits the bill perfectly.

The 17-year-old may not make an immediate impact and might even take a bit of time settling into Spanish football. But, he does have the ability to add a new dimension to the Real Madrid midfield as Los Merengues look to return to the pinnacle of European football following a rough couple of seasons.
