Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement over personal terms with former Premier League forward and Shanghai Shenhua star Odion Ighalo.
Reputable and reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported of Manchester United agreeing personal terms with Odion Ighalo. The Red Devils are now reportedly set to enter into talks with Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua over a six-month loan deal with an option to buy as part of the contract.
Man United have reached an agreement with Odion Ighalo on personal terms and salary. Now Man Utd are in contact with Shanghai Shenhua to find an agreement – possible loan + buy option. But just 2.30 hours left before the window will be closed… time is key ⌛️⏳ #MUFC #ManUnited

Reports rushing in earlier said that Tottenham were also interested in Ighalo but their bid to get the 30-year-old on a six-month loan deal was knocked back by Shanghai Shenhua. But, Manchester United seem confident of getting the deal over the line with just over 2 hours left in the transfer window.
Manchester United have had a forward ‘crisis’ since Romelu Lukaku’s departure was not compensated with an arrival. Mason Greenwood has stepped up and Marcus Rashford’s mercurial form has ensured Lukaku hasn’t been a big miss so far. But, with Rashford injured now, United have just Anthony Martial and Greenwood as options, with the former not really justifying his starting role as the number 9 this season.
According to reports, Manchester United wanted to bring Joshua King back to Old Trafford. But, Bournemouth’s hefty price tag saw United pull back of any sort of deal on Deadline Day and focus instead on a temporary deal for Odion Ighalo.
Odion Ighalo has had a decent stint at Shanghai Shenhua so far, scoring 10 times in 19 appearances for the Chinese Super League club. The former Watford man has a proven record of performing in the Premier League and will not take time to adapt to English football, which makes him an ideal target.
The recent outbreak of Coronavirus in China has reportedly unnerved the foreign players playing in the CSL. The league could be postponed and the players are looking for a move away from the country for now. A six-month deal would make sense for all parties involved.
Manchester United get a forward to offset the absence of Marcus Rashford; Shanghai Shenhua get Ighalo’s wages slashed off their wage bill and the 30-year-old gets a chance to shine again in the Premier League. With the option to buy clause in the deal, Ighalo will also have something to play for till the end of the season.
