Barcelona have reportedly seen their offer of €100 million for Brazilian forward Richarlison rejected by Everton.

As per an exclusive report from Sky Sports, La Liga champions Barcelona have been thwarted in their attempt to sign Everton forward Richarlison as their offer of €100 million has been rejected by the Premier League club.

Barcelona are in the market for a new forward after having seen star striker Luis Suarez get sidelined with an injury. The Uruguayan international underwent a surgery on his troublesome knee and is expected to be out of action for at least four months, while youngster Carles Perez could also be on his way out of the club with AS Roma interested.

This would leave Barcelona light on numbers in the attacking department, more so considering that Ousmane Dembele continues to be hampered by injuries. And in order to address that, the Catalans are looking to bring in a forward before the January transfer window closes.

Valencia’s Rodrigo had been mooted as Barcelona’s top target, while more recently the name of Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had also been mentioned. However, the Blaugrana have seemed to shift their focus towards Everton superstar Richarlison.

The 22-year-old Brazilian has been a success story in the Premier League since joining Watford from Fluminense in 2017. Richarlison left the Hornets a year later to join Everton and after a fairly solid debut campaign with the Toffees, has come into his own in this season.

In 27 matches across all competitions this term, Richarlison has found the back of the net on 10 occasions and set up 4 more. While the Merseysiders have struggled to get results this term, the Brazilian international has been a shining light for the club, along with youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

And, naturally, Richarlison’s performances have garnered the attention of the bigwigs, with Barcelona taking an interest. The La Liga champions have been monitoring the Everton man for quite some time now, with director Eric Abidal a huge admirer of the forward.

And as per latest report from Sky Sports, Barcelona have made a huge €100 million offer to try and pry Richarlison away from the Toffees in the ongoing window. However, the Catalans’ bid has been met with rejection by Everton who have no intention of losing one of their best players midway through a difficult campaign.

This should come as a big blow for Barcelona, who are in urgent need of a new forward as they look to topple Real Madrid from the top off the La Liga summit. With just two days left for the transfer window to close, it remains to be seen if Barcelona come back with an improved bid for Richarlison or target a different player, with Dusan Tadic a potential target.
