Predicted Liverpool lineup against Manchester United | Premier League

Liverpool will welcome back first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker when they take on arch rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Liverpool will be aiming to extend their winning start to the 2019-20 Premier League season when they lock horns against a struggling Manchester United side away from home this weekend. The Reds will be looking to go eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City and have been handed a fitness boost heading into the game.

Alisson Becker, who has not featured since the opening day of the season when he picked up a calf injury, will be in line for a start against Manchester United. Joel Matip is also fit, after missing out the last two matches with a knock, while Mohamed Salah, who was taken off injured after being on the receiving end of a poor tackle against Leicester City, is also fit and ready for action.

Speaking of the trio’s condition in his pre-match presser, manager Jurgen Klopp said, “Better – how good, we have to see, that’s the truth. There are two more sessions to come from this afternoon and we have to see. Then we’ll make decisions, that’s how it is. Nothing is fixed.”

While Klopp appeared non-committal on the trio’s involvement, it is highly expected that they will feature from the kick off at Old Trafford. Meaning, Alisson will replace Adrian in goal for Liverpool, while Matip is set to come into the side in place of Dejan Lovren, who started the last game against Leicester City.

The rest of the Liverpool backline picks itself, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson being certain starters.

Klopp has plenty of options to pick from in midfield. But, given the magnitude of the clash, he is likely to stick with his best players, meaning Fabinho should continue in the holding midfield role for Liverpool, with the forward thrust coming from captain Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum. James Milner, who scored the late winner against Leicester, will feel unlucky to be left out.

Salah should take his rightful place on the right side of the Liverpool attack against Manchester United. His usual partners in crime, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, who continues to enhance his importance for the Reds with each passing game, should complete the lineup.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane
