Tottenham have reportedly swooped in and reached an agreement of €70 million with Juventus for Paulo Dybala, who is in talks with Manchester United.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Paulo Dybala might be heading to the Premier League this transfer window after all, albeit to London instead of Manchester. Tottenham have reportedly agreed a transfer fee in the ballpark of €70 million with Juventus for the Argentine star, who is said to be still locked in talks with Manchester United.
The swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala has been doing the rounds for a while now, with Dybala’s consent the only thing remaining. While Lukaku has reportedly agreed personal terms with Juventus, Dybala and his camp are at loggerheads over the same with Manchester United.
As per reports, Manchester United are not willing to pay an exorbitant agent commission to get Dybala, who evidently did not want to come to Manchester United on priority, with the Argentine said to be hopeful of staying at Juventus before talks with manager Maurizio Sarri.
Manchester United have been searching for a quality number 10 and Dybala would be a regular at Old Trafford. The Argentine would also reunite with former club teammate and good friend Paul Pogba.
But, Tottenham are reportedly swooping in for the Argentine. Christian Eriksen is in the last year of his contract and will need to replaced, especially with Daniel Levy likely to listen to offers for the Danish playmaker in the current transfer window. Signing a replacement will be priority, with Mauricio Pochettino already not happy with a lack of movement in the transfer market.
What is certain is Dybala does not have a future at Juventus anymore, with Sarri making it clear that the Argentine is not a part of his plans. The Argentine does have another admirer in the form of Paris Saint-Germain. But, the French giants have stood on the sidelines of this transfer saga so far now.
Tottenham have done what Manchester United achieved so far. The real hurdle is the personal terms and agreement over image rights and agent commission. Who among Spurs and United is able to breach that wall remains to be seen. Dybala though, looks primed for Premier League football.
