Romelu Lukaku has reportedly agreed a £160,000-a-week contract with Juventus as part of a swap deal that will see Paulo Dybala join Manchester United.
As per a report from The Sun, Manchester United’s pursuit of Juventus superstar Paulo Dybala is close to reaching its conclusion, as Red Devils’ striker Romelu Lukaku has agreed terms on a contract with the Serie A champions as part of the swap deal that will bring Dybala to Old Trafford.
With less than a week left for the English transfer window to close, Manchester United are attempting to pull off one of the biggest deals of the summer with Juventus. The 20-time English champions are believed to have an agreement in principle with Juve to trade star striker Lukaku for Argentine international Dybala.
And now, the move could be a step closer as the report from The Sun claims that Lukaku has reached a contract agreement with the Bianconeri, leaving Manchester United to convince Dybala to move and agree terms with the 25-year-old.
Lukaku’s future at Manchester United has been in question all summer after the Belgian international dropped behind Marcus Rashford in the pecking order in the second half of the 2018-19 season. The former Evertonian was heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan, but the Nerazzurri weren’t able to meet United’s valuation of the striker, leaving the field open for Juventus to swoop in.
Lukaku was also believed to be keen on a move away from Manchester United and the striker has spoken previously of his admiration of the Italian top-flight. And as per the report, the Belgian could be a step closer to realizing his dream of playing in the Serie A after agreeing personal terms with Juventus.
The Belgian international is set to take home £160,000-a-week in wages, which is almost the double of what he used to earn at Manchester United, where he was on a salary of £90,000 per week. The transfer now hinges on Dybala reaching an agreement with the Red Devils.
Dybala endured a difficult 2018-19 campaign, but was keen on starting from scratch under new manager Maurizio Sarri. However, Juventus are keen on offloading the 25-year-old Argentine, having splashed the cash this summer on a number of new recruits, including Dutch sensation Matthijs de Ligt.
Dybala though, is not quite convinced of joining Manchester United, with the club not playing in the Champions League. However, as per recent reports, the Argentine has been banished from training by Juventus, which has left him angry and frustrated. Disappointed by the way he is being treated, the forward is now considering a transfer to Old Trafford.
However, The Sun claims that Dybala wants wages on par with Manchester United’s highest-earners, which the club are unwilling to offer. If Dybala decides against a move, then naturally Lukaku would end up staying at the club. With only a few days left before the transfer window slams shut in England, it remains to be seen how this story develops.
