The Nerazzurri coach wants to bolster his midfield and would like to have Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal at Inter to replace some unwanted stars.

Inter Milan have been embarking on an excellent transfer window so far with the capture of many stars. Ever since Antonio Conte took over as coach, the former Chelsea manager has been on his mark to solve some existing problems at the club. Now he wants a midfielder to bolster his options. According to Sport, Conte wants to bring Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal to the San Siro to replace unwanted stars.

Inter Milan had a decent season the last term as the side finished fourth in Serie A and ensured they qualified for this season’s Champions League. Conte wants his team to perform well this season both domestically and in Europe. He will certainly look to go beyond last season’s group-stage exit from the European competition.

Additionally, Conte is targetting a title chase this season with Juventus and Napoli expected to be among those running for the domestic prize. To do so, Inter have already embarked on signing a few necessary players this summer. The likes of Diego Godin, Nicolo Barella, Valentino Lazaro, Matteo Politano, and goalkeeper Ionut Radu have all arrived at the club.

Now, Conte wants Vidal to bolster his midfield options further, with the likes of Radja Nainggolan, Joao Mario and Borja Velero all unwanted. Vidal, who only joined Barcelona last summer from Bayern Munich, had a decent season winning the La Liga. The Chilean was not an automatic starter at the club, and now due to the arrival of Frenkie de Jong from Ajax, his chances are expected to be limited.

However, Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde feels Vidal’s experience might be useful for the club next season and will be looking to keep him at the club. Barcelona is looking to make more additions to the side despite the arrival of de Jong and the big-money signing of Antoine Griezmann. They would want more than the £18 million they paid for Vidal last summer.

Inter are looking at an experienced midfielder in this window. They have also targeted Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic for a move, but the Serbian is still not sure on the move. Moreover, they would want someone who is experienced and not cost too much of their money.

Despite all the perception that he may not be an essential player for Barcelona, Vidal did make 33 appearances in the league last season. However, with further arrivals, he might not get as many chances this term, although Barcelona is his only hope of winning the Champions League.

As for a transfer, Vidal might find some more importance personally playing for Inter and could be a fantastic signing for a side that lacks real experience and leadership. Conte, being a demanding manager, will have seen real value in Vidal and might push his club to sign the midfielder. The coming days will give a better picture of the Chilean’s scenario.
