Bayern Munich target Xavier Amaechi has removed all mentions of Arsenal in his bio after being snubbed from the club’s pre-season tour to the US.
Social media accounts have become an indicator in regards to a player’s desire and commitment towards a club. Over the years, players have given subtle hints using their social media accounts and it seems Arsenal youngster Xavier Amaechi has been the latest one to do the same after removing all mentions of the Gunners in his Instagram bio – as reported by Mirror.
This happened after he was left out of the Arsenal squad set for a pre-season tour to the United States. And this was a shocker indeed as he was notably promoted to training with the first-team earlier this summer, after initially impressing for Freddie Ljungberg’s U-23 side last season.
But, Amaechi’s recent stunt on social media could serve as a clear indicator of his willingness to depart Emirates Stadium this summer. And this could be a massive boost for Bayern Munich. The Bavarians are said to be interested in acquiring the services of Amaechi, whose current contract at Arsenal expires at the end of next season.
The Bundesliga giants are preparing for life without Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery next season. As a result, they are keen on signing a few promising wingers, who can provide competition to the likes of Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman. Amechi, to that end, could be an exciting addition to Bayern’s youth setup.
As mentioned earlier, the young winger has already impressed in the youth leagues and is brimming with a lot of potential. As a matter of fact, Amaechi was involved in as many as 12 goals in 22 matches in the Premier League 2 during the 2018-19 campaign. His services on the flanks helped the Arsenal U-23 side finish second in the league table, just behind Everton U-23s.
That being said, Bayern Munich have lacked the proficiency of nurturing young talents in recent years. And it is also unlikely he will be drafted into the first-team regularly anytime soon. Hence, remaining put and even extending his contract at Arsenal could be the most logical option for Amaechi.
The Gunners have lacked the services of a natural winger ever since the departure of Alexis Sanchez at the start of last year. And with a slender transfer budget, signing a world-class attacker could be difficult. Therefore, it is likely Unai Emery will rely on the Arsenal academy to promote some of the players to the first-team.
Amaechi, in that regard, might be given a genuine opportunity to make a breakthrough at some point, especially in such a long and strenuous season. Hence, the 18-year-old should appear patient as his future at Arsenal continues to hang in the air this summer.
