Jordi Osei-Tutu could be set to depart Arsenal and become the next English youngster to make his way to the Bundesliga, with Hamburg reportedly making an offer.
Arsenal’s summer departure list keeps growing as yet another youngster looks set to leave the club. The Sun are reporting about the possible exit of 20-year-old full-back Jordi Osei-Tutu, with German side Hamburg making an offer for the Arsenal youngster. Osei-Tutu is now considering a switch to the Bundesliga and follow many other young English stars there.
With senior stars such as Aaron Ramsey, Danny Welbeck, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Petr Cech all departing the club following the end of their contracts, Arsenal have been braced for further bad news of impending departures for many young players.
Most notably Xavier Amaechi was reported to be on the verge of leaving, while defenders Vontae Daley-Campbell and Bayli Spencer-Adams have departed as well. And, the list is only set to grow with Osei-Tutu supposedly next in line. The number of young players leaving is setting off an alarm, as other clubs are ready to take advantage of Arsenal’s sloppiness in handling such situations.
Hamburg’s offer is reportedly tempting Osei-Tutu to consider his future at Arsenal and the full-back is willing to follow in the footsteps of compatriot Reiss Nelson into making a move to the Bundesliga. Hamburg are not the only club interested, as Brentford and Celtic have also expressed a liking for the player and could offer loan agreements.
Arsenal would reportedly like to send the player out on loan rather than selling him permanently. Like they did with Nelson, the Gunners could offer Osei-Tutu a new deal before deciding his fate at North London. A new contract would certainly protect Arsenal’s investment as the demand for young players is growing like never before in today’s market.
Osei-Tutu made 18 appearances for the Under-23 side, featuring prominently for the team. The idea of a move away from the Emirates is to get senior appearances under his belt and to have a chance of featuring for a top-flight outfit in the immediate future.
With that prospect seemingly not available at Arsenal, the decision to leave could make sense. While there are no viable alternative to Hector Bellerin apart from Ainsley Maitland-Niles, the North Londoners have been linked with a move for Thomas Meunier, meaning chances might not be forthcoming for young Osei-Tutu.
With a growing number of English youngsters moving to Germany, will this become a trend this summer as most of them look to gain vital first-team experience? But, Arsenal would be best suited to sending Osei-Tutu out on loan, despite the player’s inclination towards joining Hamburg.
