Transfer News: Manchester United could make a move for Tanguy Ndombele according to football agent

Manchester United have been tipped to launch an attempt to sign Olympique Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in the summer by transfer agent Yvan Le Mee.

In a recent interview with Italian outlet Tuttosport, as reported by Calciomercato, French football agent Yvan Le Mee has hinted at the possibility of Premier League giants Manchester United making a summer swoop for French midfield sensation Tanguy Ndombele, as a possible replacement for wantaway star Paul Pogba.

The 2018-19 season was quite a disappointing one for Manchester United. Having failed to qualify for Champions League for the next term, the Red Devils are facing a summer of reckoning, as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to revamp the squad and build a team that could push for a re-entry into the top four of the Premier League.

However, Manchester United are staring at the possibility of losing star midfielder and club-record signing Paul Pogba in the summer, who has emerged as a primary transfer target for Real Madrid. The 26-year-old may not have been able to live up to the expectations at Old Trafford, but remains a quality player and losing him would be a blow for the Red Devils.

Should Pogba’s transfer to Real Madrid go through in the summer, the 20-time English champions could make a move for Lyon’s emerging midfield star Tanguy Ndombele, according to Le Mee. Speaking to Tuttosport, as quoted in the report by Calciomercato, the agent claimed, “Ndombele is an important midfielder, he has technical and physical skills. He is not always consistent but he gives his best in big games.

“I imagine him at Man United because he is a bit like Pogba and a big like Yaya. Ndombele could replace Pogba who, I think, wants to leave the Red Devils. He’s played in England and Italy and I think he wants to move to Spain. Barcelona have already signed De Jong and Pogba may be the right player for Real Madrid.”

Ndombele has emerged as one of the most promising young midfielders in the Ligue 1 over the past couple of years. A product of the Amiens academy, he joined Lyon on loan in 2017 before making the transfer permanent last summer. The 22-year-old has already racked up 94 appearances for the club, netting 3 goals and setting up 16 more.

A powerful box-to-box midfielder with elements of creativity and tenacity in his game, Ndombele has been linked with a move away from Lyon for a while now. Manchester United are one of the clubs that have been linked with a transfer for the Frenchman, along with cross-town rivals Manchester City.

With Manchester United already losing Ander Herrera on a free transfer and the possibility of Pogba leaving hanging over them, a new central midfielder is likely to be high on Solskjaer’s shopping list. And 22-year-old Ndombele could prove to be a great addition to the squad, given his young age and the immense potential that he has shown.

However, it remains to be see if the Red Devils decide to pursue his signing as per Le Mee’s expectations, or look elsewhere to strengthen their midfield department.
