Real Madrid have reportedly agreed a €60 million deal with Eintracht Frankfurt to facilitate the summer arrival of Serbian striker Luka Jovic.

Spanish publication AS report that Real Madrid have won the race for Luka Jovic. The Serbian striker recently saw his loan deal at Frankfurt being converted into a permanent transfer. But, it seems the in-demand star will be plying his trade in La Liga in the upcoming campaign, with Real snapping the player up.

The reported fee is €60 million, which resembles quite a bit of profit for Eintracht Frankfurt, who recently chose to activate the €7 million option in Jovic’s loan deal to sign him on a permanent basis from SL Benfica after what has been an unprecedented season for the forward.

Luka Jovic’s rise has really taken world football by storm. The striker had a decent 2017-18 campaign. But, the 2018-19 season has seen him reach heights not nearly expected of him. Jovic has 26 goals in all competitions this season so far. In doing so, the Frankfurt star also became the youngest player to ever score 5 goals in a single Bundesliga match.

There has been interest and speculation has been rife of Jovic being tailed by the best of European clubs. Barcelona and Real Madrid were among the many clubs chasing the 21-year-old’s signature.

Real Madrid have been unable to replace the goals that were lost with the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Karim Benzema has found his old touch of late, with Zinedine Zidane back at the helm. But, Real Madrid are still devoid of natural goalscorers in attack, with Mariano Diaz not acting as an able deputy to Benzema.

Florentino Perez is known to prefer big-name signings. But, of late, the club has opted for a more pragmatic and futuristic approach with the idea moving towards building a team for the present and the future rather than another version of Galacticos.

Perhaps, that is the reason why, according to AS, Real Madrid have agreed to sign Jovic, despite being continuously linked with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Harry Kane and others. They seem to have wrapped up the deal quickly to avoid an auction in the summer.

At 21, Jovic will be a long-term addition to the Real Madrid squad. Also, Jovic costs a lot less than what the likes of Kane or Rashford would command. An official confirmation is still pending. But, given the reports, it should only be a matter of time before Real Madrid confirm their second signing of the summer after Eder Militao, with time left before the summer transfer window even begins.
