Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has no intentions of leaving the club, amid strong interest from Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid, according to his agent.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah’s agent Ramy Ibbas Issa has quashed rumours of a rift between his client and Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp via Twitter, after reports had claimed that the pair had been involved in a heated discussion.
Spanish outlet AS had made a huge claim earlier this week that Salah had been involved in a heated argument with manager Jurgen Klopp, following which he had asked to leave the club in the summer transfer window. The report went to further add that the Egyptian was even willing to hand in a transfer request to force a move away from Anfield.
These reports came amid serious interest in the attacker from Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid. The Merengues are on the lookout for options to bolster their attacking ranks ahead of the summer transfer window after what has been a seriously underwhelming campaign and Salah has emerged as a potential candidate, with manager Zinedine Zidane believed to be a huge admirer.
Following the report from AS, Italian journalist Nicolo Schira of Gazzetta dello Sport claimed on Twitter that a deal could be possible if Real Madrid were willing to meet Liverpool’s asking price of €180 million for Salah, further adding fuel to the speculations.
However, Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa, who came across these reports, took to Twitter to shut down the talks. He cheekily tweeted, “Talking out of their AS again,” dismissing the notion that 26-year-old Salah was seeking a move away from Liverpool in order to join Real Madrid, with a clever pun.
Salah joined Liverpool in the summer of 2017 from AS Roma for a fee of £34 million and has gone to establish himself as a cult hero at Anfield after his exploits in his debut campaign. The Egyptian international came up with sensational returns of 44 goals and 16 assists in 52 games across all competitions in 2017-18, on his way to winning the Premier League Golden Boot.
The 26-year-old hasn’t been as prolific this time out, but has still posted an impressive tally of 23 goals and 11 assists from 46 matches in all competitions, helping Liverpool to mount a strong Premier League title bid and make it through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
Real Madrid could definitely use someone of Salah’s quality considering how poor they have been in the final third this season apart from top scorer Karim Benzema. However, with Salah’s agent dismissing reports of a potential exit in the summer, they will have to look elsewhere to bolster their attack, with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard the most likely player to move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Liverpool fans can now breathe a sigh of relief. knowing that their star attacker will not be forcing a move away from Anfield. The Reds will be action on Sunday, when they face Cardiff City in Wales, with an eye on reclaiming the top spot in the Premier League.
