Liverpool are reportedly at a risk of losing Rafael Camacho, who rejected the latest five-year contract offered by the club.
If the report from The Sun is to be believed, Rafael Camacho could be on his way out of Liverpool in the summer. The youngster has rejected a fresh five-year contract offered by the Reds, with only a year left on his current deal amid widespread interest in his services.
The report states that clubs from Germany, Spain, France and Portugal are vying for the 18-year-old’s signature, all while Liverpool are looking to secure his future at the club. Camacho was reportedly retained at the club in January despite several loan offers, with Jurgen Klopp intending to use him in the first-team setup.
But, with the season coming to an end, the player has been handed just a single start, that too in the FA Cup, with another appearance coming as a substitute in the Premier League. The promise of first-team football has not been fulfilled, which has seen Camacho reject the fresh contract from Liverpool.
Rafael Camacho joined Liverpool from Sporting Lisbon after impressing on trial at the club. The 18-year-old is versatile and can play all across the front three while also being adept at playing as a wide defender and a wing-back. Interestingly, Sporting Lisbon are one of the clubs that are ready to move for Camacho.
The Portuguese giants saw a mass exodus of players after a training ground incident and have performed well this season, thanks to their academy line producing players continuously. Sporting are ready to offer Camacho first-team football and at his desired position on the left side of the attack.
The 18-year-old could relish the chance of returning to his former club, this time as a first-team player and not a youth star. Liverpool though, will be keen to hold on to Camacho. But, recent reports suggest Klopp is looking to add more players to their attack, which means Camacho is unlikely to harbour hopes of breaking into the mould and having regular action in the first-team in the coming season either.
Liverpool will be at risk of losing the 18-year-old for a measly compensation fee in 2020 and could decide to cash in on him in the coming summer transfer window. As for Camacho, he will have a difficult choice at hand; a choice of the next club that will give him the right platform to succeed.
