Marcus Rashford is reportedly on the list of forwards that Barcelona are looking to target in the summer in order to reinforce their frontline.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo have claimed that Barcelona have prepared an exhaustive and tiny shortlist of forwards to target in the summer. The intriguing part is that the list includes Manchester United sensation Marcus Rashford, who has been on fire under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer so far.

The priority on the list of agendas at Barcelona is perhaps, to find an heir to Luis Suarez, with the Uruguayan being really inconsistent this season and reaching the horizon point of his career. Paco Alcacer failed to be the replacement people thought, but has really hit form at Borussia Dortmund.

Barcelona want to do it right this time around and find a player that suits their game and culture. The report iterates that there are three names on their list. Antoine Griezmann is the obvious name that pops up. The Frenchman was linked with Barcelona last summer and has hinted that he might be keen on a move away from Atletico Madrid once the season ends.

Luka Jovic is the other name that has emerged after the Serb’s unfathomable numbers at Eintracht Frankfurt. The player has been scouted several times and has been given rave reviews. But, the most interesting option on the list is Manchester United academy graduate Marcus Rashford.

Rashford’s career graph resembles his tremendously opportunistic nature. The youngster was thrown into the mix in the midst of injuries and has since not looked back. A sucker for big occasions, the English international has scored at almost every major debut occasion.

The 21-year-old also has other characteristics that goes well with the Barcelona philosophy. Rashford is technically gifted and has shown a penchant for the extraordinary in and around the box. His ability to provide and finish also aligns well with how Barcelona play their football.

Another positive is Rashford’s interchangeability. The forward learned to play on the wings under Jose Mourinho and has shown he can be more than just a placeholder out wide as well. The report iterates that the Manchester United star will match well with the La Masia way of football at Barcelona and it is something we can see in the way he goes about his football.

Convincing him though, might be a bit of a task. Born and bred local, Rashford is Manchester through and through. The only reason there were talks of him moving was that during his tenure under Mourinho, he was not played in his natural position.

Solskjaer’s arrival has remedied that and more. Rashford is now the main man for Manchester United and he seems to be loving life leading the frontline of his dream club. An interesting and perhaps, one of the best long-term options for Barcelona but one that will be tough to bring to Camp Nou, at least for the time being.
