Manchester United potentially, have another Giggs within their ranks now and it is none other than the son of legend Ryan Giggs, Zach Giggs.
Greatness runs in some footballing families. And Ryan Giggs’ family could be the next in line. The Manchester United legend’s son Zach Giggs is a budding footballer and is now a part of Manchester United, currently plying his trade at his respective age level, the current Welsh boss himself confirmed, according to The Sun.
Giggs said, “I’m actually there every Tuesday and Thursday because my son trains there. I am there quite a bit at night. Nicky (Butt) is there and I sometimes go in for a coffee with Nick. I am there quite a bit.”
The aforementioned statement confirms two things – Zach’s addition to the Manchester United ranks and Nicky Butt’s heavy involvement with younger age levels at the club.
Ryan Giggs was one of the players that were part of the fabled ‘Class of 1992’ at Manchester United that went on to achieve great things with the club and otherwise. The Welsh speedster spent 25 glorious years at the club, making it to the senior team in 1991.
During the illustrious 25-year association with Manchester United, Ryan Giggs got his hands on every major trophy at club level – from Premier League titles to the Club World Cup and the Champions League. Giggs also had a record of scoring in every one of his 23 English top-flight campaigns, but was unable to stretch it to 24 as he took a caretaker manager-role after David Moyes was sacked.
One of the most coveted players in the history of Premier League, Ryan Giggs was also an example of what loyalty can provide at club level. The current Welsh manager lapped up several individual honours as well, the highlight perhaps, being his induction into the English football Hall of Fame in 2005.
Ryan Giggs will be hoping his son can at least walk the same path at Manchester United as far as making his senior breakthrough is concerned at least, if not emulating his coveted career. It will be interesting to see if young Zach can live up to the hype and expectations.
