Manchester United have slapped a price tag of £15 million on wantaway Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who is out of favour with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

If a report by Daily Mirror is to be believed, Marouane Fellaini could be the first player leaving Old Trafford in January. Slapped with a price tag of £15 million, the 31-year-old midfielder is attracting interest from various clubs around the world.

Following Jose Mourinho’s departure from the club, Fellaini’s stock has fallen considerably, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer using the Belgian international sparingly. Out of the 6 games under the Manchester United caretaker boss, all of which were won, Fellaini has made just 2 appearances off the bench.

The players has clocked a total of just 31 minutes thus far, and wasn’t even a part of the 18-man squad as Manchester United beat Tottenham 1-0 in Wembley last Sunday. Fellaini did sign a two-year deal with the Red Devils last summer, but the top brass at Old Trafford is now ready to let him go if a suitor could muster up £15 million for the versatile Belgian.

Several clubs which have expressed their interest in him, including FC Porto, AC Milan and Chinese Super League side, Guangzhou Evergrande. Although they look at the midfielder as a potential target, none of the clubs have tabled an official offer for him to Manchester United just yet.

Fellaini was brought in to Manchester United by David Moyes for £27 million from Everton in the summer of 2013. And, although the player was subjected to constant criticism from the fans, former bosses Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho held him in high regard for his prowess in the midfield and in the air.

Mourinho, in particular, had a sweet spot towards the wily midfielder, relying on the Belgian for physical and aerial superiority in the midfield in dire times. Solskjaer, however, has not taken fancy to Fellaini, with his style of play contrasting with Mourinho’s tactics and approach.

With more than 18 months left in his contract, Manchester United are ready to let him go if they can extract a fair price out of the Belgian international. It may also perhaps for the better, for the 31-year-old to leave Old Trafford when things between him and the caretaker Solskajer are not working out, and it remains to be seen if his time at the club comes to an end this month.
