Manchester United are ready to rival Tottenham Hotspur & Arsenal in pursuit of AS Roma superstar Cengiz Under, who could reportedly cost around £44 million.

According to The Sun, Manchester United have joined league rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the race to sign Cengiz Under. The AS Roma playmaker has attracted the interest of several top clubs across Europe and a move away from Italy could be on the horizon, with the Giallorossi reportedly asking for a fee of around £44 million.

That being said, United will face stiff competition from Spurs and Arsenal, both of whom are also keen to secure the services of this highly talented Turkish international.

Spurs are bracing themselves for the potential departure of Christian Eriksen, who has been identified as a top transfer target for Real Madrid. Therefore, the addition of a playmaker could be imperative.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are set to lose the services of Aaron Ramsey next season, with the Welshman reportedly agreeing a pre-contract agreement with Juventus.

Additionally, the Gunners are also looking to offload Mesut Ozil, whose insipid performances this season hasn’t helped their cause either. Thus, Under seems like an appealing target for the North London giants.

Under has been in sparkling form this season, taking part in nine goals in 17 league matches. His excellent chance creation in the final third has helped Roma maintain their sixth-place on the league table, despite struggling with inconsistency at times this season.

As for Manchester United, they have been in top form following the appointment of Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer, who has won every game he has been in charge of so far, with United’s latest victory coming against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

However, the Red Devils could still face a host of problems, especially in the attacking department, which has lacked the creative substance this season.

Former Chelsea star Juan Mata has had a stop-start campaign while Alexis Sanchez continues to struggle from injuries. And although Paul Pogba has been in terrific form, of late, United are in definite need of a playmaker, who can provide the creative essence in the final third as they aim to pose a strong threat for the title next season.

Under, in that regard, would be a viable target for the Premier League giants considering his style of play, which suits quite well to United’s attacking game under Solskjaer.

Much like Arsenal star Ozil, Under is blessed with excellent vision and is always on the lookout for that elusive through pass to expose the opposition defence. In fact, only Suso (8) has registered more assists than Under (6) this season.

He’s also an agile playmaker, who loves to take on defenders while his technical prowess helps him link-up well with his teammates in the final third, which could prove to be beneficial for United, especially with the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Sanchez lurking in the final third.

Therefore, Under definitely seems like an appealing target for the Red Devils, who can not only add the creative essence in the final third but will also provide Solskjaer with an additional option in the attacking department.
