Transfer News: Bournemouth to offer new deal for Manchester United and Tottenham target Brooks

The Cherries attacker is set to be rewarded for his fine form this season as the new deal would kill Manchester United and Tottenham’s interest.

David Brooks has emerged to be one of the top performing players this season, drawing significant interest from Premier League’s big boys Manchester United and Tottenham in the process. According to The Sun, Bournemouth are set to offer Brooks a new, lucrative deal to ward off interest from the two giants and ensure they have the prospect tied up with them for the foreseeable future.

Bournemouth might be battling in mid-table right now, but they did get off to a flying start to their Premier League campaign courtesy to some brilliant attacking play from their forward stars including David Brooks. The Welsh International has scored five goals and assisted a further two in his 20 games so far this campaign.

Soon after his form surfaced, Manchester United and Tottenham reportedly stated their interest, but Bournemouth are in no hurry to sell the emerging star. Brooks only joined the Cherries from Sheffield United in the summer in a £11.5 million move and now its believed his market price have shot up to a point where his suitors are ready to pay £40 million.

However, the interest in the attacker is not something of this season, as Liverpool were keen on the Brooks back in 2017 when he was with Sheffield United. Spurs’ interest also surfaced during that time, although none of the big clubs came forward with a concrete offer. As much as there is a chance the player might join one of the big clubs in the future, although for now he is set to stay at Bournemouth.

Manchester United also seem to be interested in the player. United’s interest stems from the fact that Brooks is playing under legend Ryan Giggs at the international level and might fancy the idea of him playing at Old Trafford.

Currently, Brooks is on a moderate £1 million a year salary which comes down to just above £19k-a-week, while he is now in line for nearly £50k a week if he signs the new deal. There are indications that Brooks will approve this new deal, probably because he might be in a way obliged to the Cherries as they are ready to renew only months after he initially joined.

However, expect the big sides to come back in for the player when the summer window opens after the season ends. Although it might still be unlikely, Brooks would want to join a bigger club just yet considering his progress could be hampered as well as fewer chances to represent Wales.

So as it stands, Brooks is flourishing under Eddie Howe at Bournemouth, and from the player’s point of view, he might not want a step up to a big side just yet. As for Bournemouth they might see more value in the player to be sold in the future and not to make an instant profit out of him just now.

Overall, Brooks has shown quality that proves he could thrive to become a better player, probably a star in the future, but for now, he could very well be staying put at the Vitality Stadium.
