Transfer News: Arsenal urged to sign Cristian Pavon

Former Premier League goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has urged Arsenal to make a move for Argentine international Cristian Pavon to bolster their attacking options.

Arsenal may not be short of any attacking talent as of now, but former Premier League goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has backed the North London side take the opportunity to sign young Argentine international Cristian Pavon, as reported by the Daily Star.

Pavon has had the spotlight on him since his exploits with Boca Juniors last season, wherein he racked up 8 goals and 19 assists for the Argentine outfit. As a result, he was also called up to the national side for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, although he only made one start at the tournament – the Round of 16 loss to eventual champions France.

His exploits have not gone unnoticed, with Arsenal setting their sights on him. And, former Premier League star Shaka Hislop thinks that the forward would be an ideal choice of transfer for Unai Emery’s side, iterating that three strikers in might not be enough after all for Arsenal. He continued saying, that Pavon has the right quality to fit into any side and more so into Emery’s system.

Emery was reportedly eyeing a move for Pavon in the summer as well, but nothing came to light in the end. Emery is a huge admirer of the Argentine international and thinks he could be a part of Arsenal in the future, as he would give him another dimension in attack alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Also, with Danny Welbeck facing an uncertain future at the Emirates, Pavon could be a viable replacement in addition to being a long-term solution in attack for Arsenal. That said, anything can happen in football, and Welbeck could stay as well.

Pavon though, has a bright future ahead of him, and there could be more clubs coming in with an interest in the Argentine international. The Boca Juniors forward has been linked with a move away from the club for quite some time now. It could well be the January window where a chance to move to Europe might arise for Pavon, and it remains to be seen if he joins Arsenal.
