Freddie Woodman and Sean Longstaff are on the radar of Manchester United, with the Premier League giants reportedly scouting the Newcastle pair.

Manchester United have attempted to extend their scouting network in order to have better access knowledge about up-and-coming players in regions across the footballing world. Two stars were being scouted by the Red Devils, with Newcastle duo Freddie Woodman and Sean Longstaff being watched by many clubs including the Premier League giants, according to Chronicle.

Woodman and Longstaff are currently  with the Under-23s at Newcastle United. The former emerged from the Newcastle youth setup and has spent the last couple of seasons on loan in Scotland. The goalkeeper has starred for England at various age levels, having been a part of the under-17 Euros and under-20 World Cup triumph.

Longstaff on the other hand is an industrious midfielder, who has already been handed his breakthrough into the first-team setup by Rafa Benitez. The manager started the 20-year-old in midfield in the EFL Cup second round loss against Nottingham Forest.

Longstaff has impressed for the Under-23s this season so far, with 2 assists in 3 appearances for Peter Beardsley’s side. This has reportedly caught the attention of several clubs, with the likes of Celtic, Manchester United, Kilmarnock and other outfits sending scouts to keep an eye on Longstaff and Woodman.

Manchester United have been on the lookout for able additions to their squad, not restricted to the first-team setup. The under-23s have started out strong after getting relegated last season, with 9 points in 5 games. But, Matej Kovar has had a few hiccups in goal already. The goalkeeper is very young for the Under-23s and will need some time to become comfortable at the said level.

As far as midfield is concerned, Manchester United do have credible options in the said area, with the likes of Aidan Barlow, Angel Gomes and Ethan Hamilton being promoted to the Under-23 squad.

Longstaff and Woodman are both proving to be quality up-and-coming players that are attracting interest from a lot of clubs, including Manchester United. For now, the Red Devils are likely just scouting the duo, who should be happy and welcome the interest.
