Everton confirm a raft of signings, three of them in ten minutes to send the Merseysiders’ fans in a frenzy and among them is Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes.
Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Andre Gomes on a season long load deal from Barcelona. He was among three quickfire announcements, which also included Bernard on a free transfer from Shaktar and long awaited target, defender Yerry Mina, also from Barcelona.
Gomes has had a torrid time with his form and appearances for Barcelona last season, which also saw him excluded from Portugal’s World Cup squad for Russia. Now he is considered surplus to requirements at Camp Nou and could leave before the end of the window.

Everton had shown no interest or even suggested a move of this sort, but it is believed while they were negotiating for Mina, they also struck a deal for Gomes, who, Barcelona were already planning to let go. And hence Gomes became the third Barcelona player this summer to move to Everton after Lucas Digne had earlier made his move.
Barcelona were open to letting him go this summer but have shown no hurry, as they still had till 31st August to sort their transfers out. Everton, on the other hand, raced against time to make a deal with the Catalans.
Everton have been reported to be paying €2.25 million for the season to Barcelona as well as Gomes’ entire wages. Further details are yet to emerge, including if there is a permanent purchase option included in the deal.
The Toffees have also agreed to a deal with Barcelona for the transfer of Colombian defender Yerry Mina, who was also linked with a move to Manchester United a few days ago. It was during Mina’s negotiations that they discussed the additional progress for Andre Gomes, and luckily concluded a deal for the Portuguese in time.
Everton’s deadline day activity also includes the free transfer of Bernard from Shakhtar, who only completed the move moments ago.Although the move for the Brazilian was in the pipeline for some time now, it seems that Everton wit the clock ticking against them made sure they concluded a loan deal with Barcelona as well as agreeing to personal terms with Gomes.
Gomes was in favour of a move to the Premier League, as he had been reported to be keen on a move to Spurs before, a team he also came close to signing during last summer’s window. However, Everton have taken a march over many other reported targets and sealed the deal for Barcelona’s unwanted man.
Not only Gomes, but Everton have made a real late dash in the transfer window, and surprised many, not only with the number of signings but also the quality these players bring to the team. As for Gomes, it would be a great chance on loan to resurrect his career to previous heights and make a nark in the world’s best league.
