The Red Devils are interested in bringing the Croatian midfielder to Old Trafford and have submitted a viable offer for his services to Real Madrid.

Manchester United are looking to get their transfer activity back underway, and have now set their sights on Mateo Kovacic of Real Madrid who is reportedly unhappy at the European Champions. Marca is reporting that Manchester United have submitted a €60 million offer for the Croatian, although the player has expressed doubts over a move.

After beginning their transfer window with a statement, Manchester United have looked off the pace in recent weeks, as they have reportedly stalled in signing players of preference. With the Red Devils already securing the signatures of Fred from Shakhtar and Diogo Dalot from Porto, they are now looking at more additions to their squad.

One name that has been approved by Jose Mourinho is Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid, as Manchester United are pretty much aware of his struggles in Spain. United have reportedly made an offer worth 60 million to Real Madrid for the services of the midfielder.

Kovacic has repeatedly expressed his desire to leave since the end of last season as he searches for a club which could give him regular first-team action. Despite tasting much glory in the previous few years at the Santiago Bernabeu, Kovacic is more interested in regular football, something which Madrid cannot guarantee the player of.

This, however, does not mean Real want to sell Kovacic. Real Madrid instead, are making all efforts possible to keep the midfielder at the club, as he is considered one of the future stars. It has seemingly become a test of patience for the player, who is at loggerheads to choose between remaining at the club and going elsewhere.

His value has indeed risen with repeated champions league triumphs and recently being part of the Croatian team that reached the 2018 FIFA World Cup Final. Since joining Real Madrid from Inter back in 2015, Kovacic has made 109 appearances for Madrid, winning the Champions League thrice and the La Liga once during his time here.

Last season he made 37 appearances in all competitions and is now keen to stamp his authority as a first choice midfielder. Kovacic, however, has doubts over a move to Manchester United, especially with their style of play,  as he weighs other offers too, including one from Chelsea, who are interested in him.

Nevertheless, new Madrid Boss Julen Lopetegui is reportedly being tasked with the job to make sure the Croatian is made to feel important at the club and subsequently decides to stay put. In the end, his final decision to stay or go will make any move possible.

Should he choose to leave, if no other club are willing to pay the fees demanded by Madrid, then United could be his only hope to make the grade.
