Liverpool have received a major boost in their pursuit of teenage sensation Christian Pulisic, with Borussia Dortmund reportedly prepared to sell.

German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund are willing to sell 19-year old attacker and Liverpool target Christian Pulisic this summer, if their valuation of £62 million for the player is met, as per reports from the Bild.

Pulisic has established himself as one of the hottest young prospects in the game since bursting onto the scenes at Dortmund a couple of years ago. The American attacker has admirers in plenty across Europe, with the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester United all credited with interest in him at some point or the other.

However, Liverpool have been the United States international’s strongest suitors since his emergence as a star in the making. In fact, the Reds even had an £11 million offer rejected by Dortmund in the summer of 2016 and continue to be linked with a move for the 19-year old.

And now, they might have found their window of opportunity to make a move, with Borussia Dortmund understood to be changing their stance over the player.

Pulisic has just two years left on his current deal with the German giants and talks over a new contract have reportedly broken down, which has prompted the club into considering cashing in on their prized asset. Dortmund are believed to have slapped a price tag of £62 million on the supremely talented 19-year old.

Since making his first-team debut for the club in January 2016, Pulisic has gone on to make 97 appearances, scoring 12 goals and setting up 20 more. The versatile winger came up with returns of 5 goals and 7 assists in 42 matches across all competitions in the 2017-18 season, having gone through a bit of a lean patch in the second half of the campaign.

The 21-time capped United States international has begun the pre-season on a strong note, scoring in Dortmund’s International Champions Cup 2018 fixtures against Manchester City and Liverpool on his home soil.

Despite having signed Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City this summer, Liverpool remain in the market for further attacking reinforcements. A move for former Dortmund winger Ousmane Dembele had been mooted recently, but Pulisic remains high on the club’s shopping list.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of the 19-year old’s abilities and sung praises of the player following his match-winning performance against the Reds this past week. And now that Dortmund are prepared to sanction his sale, the German tactician will be urging his club to do everything necessary in order to land the winger.

However, Liverpool’s pathway to signing Pulisic will not be easy as European champions Real Madrid too are interested in the American and have made contact with the German outfit over the possibility of a transfer. Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Chelsea too are understood to be in the reckoning, complicating things further for the Merseysiders.
