Transfer News: Real Madrid planning massive bid for Hugo Lloris

Hugo Lloris has been sensational for France and Tottenham Hotspur.

Real Madrid have turned their attention towards bringing Hugo Lloris to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer to replace Keylor Navas.

Real Madrid continue to make news on their search for a new goalkeeper, and have turned their attention towards Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris. President Florentino Perez hopes to bring the French captain to Madrid. According to The Sun, Real Madrid are preparing a massive £60 million bid for the 31-year-old World Cup winner in the next few days.

Real Madrid have been on the search for a new goalkeeper for many years now, often linked with the best players in the position. After finally giving up in their chase to sign Manchester United’s David de Gea, who recently agreed to extend his stay at Old Trafford, Florentino Perez has turned his attention towards bringing France’s World Cup-winning captain, Hugo Lloris to the club.

Lloris still has five years to run on his current Spurs deal, meaning Real have to offer massive amounts of money to turn Tottenham’s head and make them think of selling their star goalkeeper. Madrid are reportedly ready to provide £60 million for the Frenchman and hope Tottenham accept the offer.

Tottenham’s chairman, Daniel Levy is a hard man to please when it comes to transfer of his star players and Real have been there before when they signed Gareth Bale and Luka Modric. Levy will be expected to reject the £60 million deal as he would want more than the £67 million Liverpool paid for Alisson a few days back.

Levy has plenty of cards with which he can play the transfer game with Madrid. First being the remaining years in Lloris’ deal at the club and then the fact that Lloris just won the World Cup, which automatically has shot up his market value. Levy is believed to only enter negotiations with Madrid if they meet his asking price for the keeper.

If things are to stall with the Lloris transfer, Real Madrid have other options to consider, including the likes of Thibaut Courtois, with whom they are heavily linked with a €35 million move. Courtois is in the last year of his Chelsea contract, and the interest in the movement to Real Madrid could be mutual, with the player himself seems to be interested.

Hugo Lloris joined Tottenham in a £12 million deal from Lyon back in 2012 and has since been the mainstay in their squad, making 254 appearances till date. It will be interesting to see whether Real Madrid are able to replace Keylor Navas with the World Cup winner.
