Transfer News: Barcelona snap up Villarreal prodigy Brian Farinas

Barcelona have reportedly secured the signature of 11-year-old Brian Farinas, who has been one of the prodigious talents for Villarreal in La Liga Promises.

According to Spanish publication Sport, Barcelona have decided to reinforce their La Masia setup. The Catalans have secured the services of 11-year-old Brian Farinas. The starlet has been on the books of Villarreal and was one of the absolute stars of La Liga Promises.

Brian Farinas is one of the most prodigious talents within the Villarreal academy setup. The 11-year-old was one of the standouts at the La Liga Promises tournament, which was held in June. The youngster has decided to join Barcelona’s youth setup and be a part of the legendary La Masia academy.

Barcelona have been seeing many of their young talents being poached away by the top clubs. One of the positions that has seen the most amount of departures is the midfield. Nico Gonzalez is expected to be the latest casualty.

The youngster’s contract at Barcelona has expired and the star has rejected the chance to sign a new contract. Nico is set to join Manchester United in what will be the second such case, with Joel Lopez joining Arsenal.

That Brian Farinas is a prodigious talent is being established by Barcelona’s approach. The midfielder is set to play for the club’s Infantil A squad, meaning that he will skip a phase and be playing with and against players one year older than him.

Barcelona’s interest piqued after Brian’s display in the La Liga Promises tournament. The club reportedly ‘fell in love’ with the player’s talent. Barcelona then held talks with the player and his camp before finalising a deal.

Brian joins on a four-year deal and will be a part of the historic La Masia setup. The 11-year-old will be hoping he is able to impress Infantil A manager Alex Urrestarazu in the coming season.

The report does state that there could some changes in terms of details in the deal. But, barring that, Brian Farinas is set to be a Barcelona player and according to the report, not the only player that will be joining the La Masia setup in the coming days.
