German champions Bayern Munich have remained evasive regarding links with Manchester United star Anthony Martial, who is linked with a move out of Old Trafford.
Bayern Munich have refused to comment on rumours linking them to a move for Anthony Martial. The Manchester United star is unhappy at the club following the lack of opportunities under Jose Mourinho with a host of top clubs around Europe already interested in his services this summer. A list which includes the Bundesliga champions.
However, as reported by Mirror, Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has refused to be drawn into talks regarding the potential transfer of Anthony Martial. Speaking at the unveiling of newly appointed head coach Niko Kovac, Salihamidzic said: “These things we discuss internally,” he said. “If there is something to tell you, we will do that.”
Martial, 22, hasn’t been able to enjoy a joyous spell under Jose Mourinho, often being overlooked in place of the likes of Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and co. And with the addition of Alexis Sanchez, earlier this year, Martial’s chances of establishing a regular place in the starting lineup are seemingly bleak. Therefore, a move out of Old Trafford could be a logical decision for the highly gifted French attacker.
Bayern, on the other hand, are looking for a new attacker this summer, with both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery nearing the end of their careers. Even though none of them have shown any signs of deterioration as of yet, the addition of a new attacker is imperative as they look to continue their dominance next season.
Manchester United star Anthony Martial would be a fine addition to Bayern Munich, who have already recalled last season’s top performer Serge Gnabry. In addition, Martial’s inclusion could further strengthen their attacking department with the likes of Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman and James Rodriguez already in the mix.
Blessed with incredible pace and trickery, Martial is a dynamic winger who is capable of causing havoc in the opposition defences. However, it’s his offensive versatility which makes him unique, as Martial can operate anywhere in the final third. In fact, he was even deployed as the lone striker during several stages of his professional career.
What’s more interesting, however, is the fact that the French international could be an ideal fit for Niko Kovac. His pace and dynamism could ideally help him thrive in Kovac’s intensive gameplay which guided Frankfurt to clinching the DFB Pokal last season.
Having been omitted from France’s roster for the ongoing FIFA World Cup, Martial is understandably upset and will be eager to find regular game time and Bayern Munich, in that regard, will provide him with the perfect platform as he looks to silence his critics next season.
