Manchester United youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah is reportedly wanted by Spanish side Valencia, but has no interest in a move away.

Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah is a subject of interest for La Liga outfit Valencia, as per reports from Spanish outlet Marca.

However, alternate report from Sport Witness claims that the 20-year old is not interested in securing a move away from the Old Trafford this summer.

Fosu-Mensah has been with Manchester United since he joined the youth ranks from the Ajax academy back in 2014 and break into the first-team in the 2015/16 campaign under then manager Louis van Gaal. Since then, the youngster has gone on to make 21 appearances for the Red Devils and has registered a solitary assist so far.

The 20-year old versatile defender spent the last season away on loan with fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace, making 24 appearances for the Eagles across all competitions and making a handy contribution in their bid to avoid relegation from the top-flight.

And Valencia are understood to be keen on signing him this summer, after having been left impressed by his performances in the 2017/18 campaign. With just Martin Montoya and Nacho Vidal as the options at right-back, Los Che are understood to be keen on securing a new right-back and have the funds to invest, following the sale of full-back Joao Cancelo on a permanent deal to Juventus earlier this month.

And Fosu-Mensah is being earmarked as the ideal candidate by the Spaniards, given the three-time capped Netherlands international’s ability to slot in anywhere in the backline or play as a defensive midfielder as well. It is being reported that Valencia, who had signed Andreas Pereira on loan from the English club last season, have already made contact with United over the possibility of a transfer.

However, the chances of Valencia signing him appear to be slim though, as it is understood that the 20-year old is not particularly keen on securing a move away from Manchester United and wants to stay and fight for a spot in Jose Mourinho’s first team.

Given Manchester United’s well-professed issues on either sides of the back four, Fosu-Mensah will fancy his chances of claiming a regular berth in the team come next season, despite the 20-time English champions signing another young full-back in the form of Diogo Dalot from FC Porto earlier this summer.

A highly talented young player, Fosu-Mensah has shown glimpses of his immense potential in his limited appearances for United so far, but it remains to be seen if manager Mourinho deems him ready enough to become a regular first team member. As of now, his future does seem unresolved and a strong pre-season campaign would go a long way in addressing that.
