We pick Timo Werner, Emil Forsberg and Marco Reus as the three players who could influence the result in the match between Germany vs Sweden.

Germany go into the match against Sweden, fully aware of the fact that anything less than a win will almost virtually knock them out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Joachim Low is unlikely to experiment with his selections anymore, but his roster has been dented by the neck injury to Mats Hummels.

There are quite a few players that could influence the result on the day. We shed some light on three of such stars.

Timo Werner

The golden boy of the German strike force, Timo Werner has been prolific since being incorporated into the starting lineup as a regular by Joachim Low. But, the match against Mexico saw the RB Leipzig man cut a frustrated figure, something that Germany cannot afford against Sweden.

Low will be hoping Werner is afforded the service upfront and that the striker is up to the task. It is time for Werner to step up and chances are, he will.

Sweden have a mouth-watering prospect at hand. They entered the World Cup as the slayers of Italy. And they can potentially, qualify for the Round of 16 by being the nation to knock out holders Germany in the group stage itself.

And if there’s any man who would be responsible to bear the burden of carrying Sweden’s attack, it has to be Emil Forsberg. The RB Leipzig playmaker-cum-winger has been immense for the national team and technically speaking, is perhaps the best competition that Sweden can provide to the stars in the German camp.

Niklas Sule

With Mats Hummels set to sit out the Sweden game with a neck injury, Joachim Low is likely to call upon Niklas Sule to replace him at the centre. The German defence looked hapless against Mexico’s pace and counters, something Sule will hope to plug against Sweden.

Sule will have big responsibilities on his shoulder and the eyes of Hummels, the German camp and the entirety of German fans locked on him. Can Sule perform at the biggest stage of them all? Yes.

But, will he be able to when the situation demands? Only time will tell.
