Real Madrid’s midfielder Mateo Kovacic has reportedly said he wants to play more, even if it means a transfer away from Santiago Bernabeu.
The 24-year-old Croatian midfielder, who joined Real Madrid in 2015, made just 21 league appearances last season, in which only 10 were not from the bench, Mateo Kovacic showed his concern over lack of game time at the club as Kovacic told reporters on Friday,”I believe I’ll play more, whether in Real or somewhere else, now is the time for me to play,” as quoted by Sun.
Kovacic revealed his frustrations from this season as he was an unused sub in the Champions league final 3-1 victory over Liverpool.
Meanwhile, his agent dismissed any kind of possibility of an exit for the Croatian from the Madrid based club whereas the 24-year-old firmed his frustration over lack of action despite his appreciable performances in provided game-time.
Last year, all rumors were denied by Real director Jose Angel Sanchez as he was reluctant to sell Kovacic saying,“Kovacic is not for sale, we will never sell him. He is one of the players the club’s future relies on.”
But apparently, there is interest in the player from various major clubs as the 24-year-old is considered to be a great talent and has age by his side. Hence, any club would be willing to pay a hefty amount for him.
Mateo Kovacic has been heavily linked with Manchester United as the English club desires to fortify their midfield; the recruitment of the young Croatian will unquestionably overhaul the quality in the Red Devils’ squad. Moreover, there is interest from Tottenham and Juventus for the midfielder in the past and the news will surely alarm such previously interested parties.
Although Kovacic refused to give further statements on his future, which may spark any discussion as he said, “Offers? I am under contract with Real and I wish not to comment on other clubs.”
The 24-year-old joined Madrid in 2015 from Inter Milan and has won three Champions League titles and a LaLiga crown. His departure from Los Blancos looks very implausible as his present club doesn’t seem to be interested in any offer for Mateo Kovacic, for the sake of future.
