Liverpool are reportedly looking to strengthen their attacking contingent ahead of the next season by signing Brazilian forward Malcom.
As per reports from the Daily Mail, Liverpool are plotting a move for FC Bordeaux’s Brazilian winger Malcom in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is understood to be keen on strengthening his attacking areas as he looks to prepare his side to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League crown and has reportedly identified Malcom as the right man to boost his squad.
The 21-year old Brazilian has been garnering a lot of interest from various clubs across Europe, with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur too monitoring his situation, along with German champions Bayern Munich.
A versatile winger who can play on either flanks or through the middle, Malcom has earned a reputation for being extremely fast and skillful with the ball at his feet. Having joined Bordeaux from Corinthians in January 2016, the 21-year old has gone on to make 94 appearances in all competitions, scoring 21 goals in the process, ten of which have come in the ongoing campaign (36 appearances).
Liverpool have one of the most devastating attacking forces in the whole of Europe with the triumvirate of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane wreaking havoc against most defences that they have come up against in the ongoing campaign firing them to the finals of the UEFA Champions League. In between them, the trio have amassed a whopping 89 goals across all competitions.
However, the Reds don’t have the quality in depth in their attacking contingent behind the three main protagonists, with the likes of Dominic Solanke and Danny Ings struggling to make an impact. And as a result, Klopp is intent on bringing in another attacking player into the squad for the next campaign.
Liverpool have also been heavily linked with a move for Olympique Lyon Nabil Fekir recently as well, while the name of Barcelona’s young forward Ousmane Dembele has also been doing the rounds of late.
And now Malcom too has emerged as a potential target for the Merseysiders. The 21-year old Brazilian has a contract with Bordeaux that runs till the summer of 2021 but will be allowed to leave if the club’s valuation of the player is met.
Malcom is young, fast, dynamic and would suit Liverpool’s style of play very well and would add more quality to their attack, if the Reds end up clinching his signing in the summer. But, with the likes of Arsenal and Bayern also in the hunt, they will face tough competition.
