Arsenal are reportedly looking to rebuild their squad in the summer and are willing to offload former Barcelona man Hector Bellerin for around £50 million.
Daily Mail are claiming that Arsenal are set to listen to offers for Hector Bellerin. The Gunners are prepared to let go of the former Barcelona man if offer(s) of £50 million come their way in the summer, with the view of investing the cash inflow to rebuild the squad before the new campaign.
Hector Bellerin was hailed as a defensive prodigy when he first made his mark at Arsenal. Hailing from the famous La Masia youth setup of Barcelona, Bellerin was always touted to be special. At Arsenal, he shined for successive seasons and interest from Barcelona and other clubs soon followed suit.
While Bellerin was often linked with a return to Barcelona, his hopes were quashed as new manager at the Nou Camp, Ernesto Valverde, chose to sign Nelson Semedo in the summer, thus alleviating the club’s need to sign a right-back.
Bellerin’s performances itself had taken a dip leading into the summer transfer window, which could be gauged as one of the primary reasons Barcelona were unwilling to match Arsenal’s unrelenting transfer stance and price tag on the Spaniard.
But, with Arsene Wenger reverting to a 4-man backline, Bellerin has found his footing again. The recent reports suggested that the player is looking to return to Barcelona in the summer to come. But, with Barcelona placing their faith in Semedo and uninterested at the prospect, he may have to look elsewhere.
Juventus are a club that have been linked for the past few months. Indeed, the Turin outfit are in need of a right-back. Stephan Lichtsteiner is 34 and needs replacing while summer arrival Mattia De Sciglio has not been as impressive and as consistent as Massimiliano Allegri would have liked.
While Juventus have been linked with a summer move for Bellerin for a reported fee of £40 million, they will have to up the ante if they are to get the Barcelona academy graduate.
Arsenal are willing to listen to offers of £50 million for Bellerin and with Barcelona not too interested in facilitating the Spaniard’s return to the Nou Camp, Juventus can wrap things up quickly if they meet Arsenal’s price tag, which does seem fair, given the level of talent Bellerin is.
Bellerin himself would like to move to Juventus, where he would stand a much greater chance of winning trophies compared to Arsenal, who don’t look like a team capable of challenging for the top honours, at least at the present moment.
