Real Madrid will reportedly look to bring in highly-rated Dinamo Zagreb goalkeeper Karlo Letica, if they fail to land other higher-priority targets in the summer.
Real Madrid have been adding to the list of potential transfer targets to fill the goalkeeping position come summer. And according to Spanish publication Marca, Los Blancos have added another enterprising name to the list, with budding goalkeeper Karlo Letica, currently a part of Dinamo Zagreb, emerging as a summer target for the club.
The report states that Thibaut Courtois and David De Gea from Chelsea and Manchester United respectively, are still the priority targets for Real Madrid in the summer. And while there have been rumours of a third target in Bernd Leno, it seems the club has recognised Letica as a player who can don the legendary jersey and be of service for more than a decade to the club.
Letica joined Zagreb in 2008 from NK Omis. After progressing through the youth setup and a few loan stints, he seems to have broken through at Zagreb. The player has 11 senior appearances so far this season, with 8 shutouts in those outings. Letica even has a goal to his name, scoring the winner against NK Istra in stoppage time.

His performances have brought forth interest from Real Madrid, who have already established contact with the club and the player’s agent as well. One of the main contributing factors is the fact that his towering nature, combined with his amazing reflexes, have drawn comparisons with Atletico Madrid custodian Jan Oblak.
The main motive behind bringing in Letica would be that it would enable Keylor Navas to stay put at the club, with the two goalkeepers likely to share first-team duties and Letica being the natural successor to Navas.
With the current condition of the transfer market, Real Madrid know well enough that their pursuit of Thibaut Courtois and David De Gea would not only be a tough one, but also cost a fortune. In such a scenario, Letica will not only be a viable option but a cost effective one and would enable Real Madrid to spend lavishly to reinforce other areas.
The 21-year-old towering goalkeeper has only started his senior journey at a top club like Zagreb. But, all signs point towards Letica shooting towards greater heights as he continues his development.
