Arsenal are readying a £25 million bid for Daniele Rugani to land the Italian defender in the summer and put an end to his struggles at Juventus.

According to The Sun, Arsenal are prepared to make a move for Daniele Rugani in the summer transfer window with his agent hinting towards a possible move to the Premier League. Arsenal and other English clubs have been previously with the highly rated Italian, but this summer a move could be a reality.

Arsenal’s bid to sign a top quality defender hasn’t gone exactly to plan in previous transfer windows. The Gunners’ struggles at the back this season are well documented with their position on the Premier League table indicating the same. To put it in context, they have conceded more goals than bottom side West Bromwich Albion this season.

The North Londoners were keen to add a centre-back in January as well and were heavily linked with a move for West Brom captain Jonny Evans. Arsenal had a bid rejected for the Northern Irishman, but it is unclear whether Arsene Wenger would pursue Evans in the summer, although the stories refuse to die down.

Meanwhile, Arsenal also have an eye on Daniele Rugani, as they continue to monitor his situation at Juventus. Rugani has failed to cement his place in Massimiliano Allegri’s side and has been in-and-out of the team this season.

Much was expected of the centre-back this season after the summer sale of Leonardo Bonucci to Milan, but so far he has been behind in the pecking order at Turin. His talent is evident, yet he has featured only in 12 Serie A games for Juventus thus far.

Allegri has not played Rugani much in cup competitions either, or in the UEFA Champions League, making 16 appearances in all competitions this season, and it is easy to see why a move to Arsenal could be an attractive proposition for him.

Rugani’s agent Davide Torchia has fueled further speculation of a possible move to Arsenal after he was quoted as saying, “Rugani it’s an international player. He could play in any league. So also in U.K. He’s young. Elegant in the way of playing. I know that various top European top club follows him. Some are English. Arsenal? In the past, some seasons ago, we spoke with them.”

There seems to be some smoke in the rumours with Rugani and Arsenal. And, a summer move will make sense for both parties considering Rugani’s young age and the Gunners being in need of a central defender.

While Wenger remains a keen admirer of the defender, it remains to be seen if a reported £25 million bid would be enough for Arsenal to prise him away from Juventus. In the current market condition, it might take a lot more than that.
