Arsenal and Everton could enter a thick race to sign Marcelo Brozovic from Inter Milan as the midfielder has become unhappy with life at the San Siro.
A report from Calciomercato suggests that Inter Milan midfielder is unhappy at the club and looking for a possible exit from the San Siro, alerting Arsenal and Everton to scramble for his signature in the January window.
Arsenal’s midfield problems come well documented and have been lingering on various midfield targets over the last few seasons but failing to sign none of utmost importance. The unconvincing form of Granit Xhaka has prompted Arsene Wenger to sign a more established name in his place.
The recent sale of Francis Coquelin as well will play heavy on Wenger’s mind as he looks for a player who is readymade to control games in midfield and put less pressure on his attacking talents. Even before that Arsene Wenger was weighing up a move for Brozovic in the summer.
Everton have been active in the transfer market since last summer, and have since been looking at more established talents across Europe’s top leagues than going for a young crop of players. The recent double-leg break suffered by James McCarthy has left Everton looking at Midfield players to replace the Irishman.
Marcelo Brozovic who had courted the interest of several clubs before including Manchester United’s has been successful with the Nerrazzuri since signing in January 2015 and has made more than 80 appearances. This season Brozovic has featured in 15 Serie A games scoring three goals so far.
Of late there have been whispers of the Croatian midfielder being unhappy at the San Siro club and would be favouring a move away from the club. A World Cup place in with the Croatian team at stake, Brozovic would want regular game time under his belt to make the cut.
Inter Milan however are not showing signs of reluctance in letting Brozovic leave the club. Very recently they let Joao Mario leave for West Ham on a six-month loan deal and could look at a similar deal for the Croatian or would also be open to letting him go permanently.
Inter Milan are linked to various transfer targets over this month and a more high profile name in Javier Pastore has been mooted as a possible signing in January. In order to sign the Argentine, Inter has to free up funds as well as salaries of current stars deemed surplus.
On the other hand, it has been suggested, Brozovic does not feature in Luciano Spalletti’s plans for the future and Inter could well accept a bid around €20 million for the Croation International who they signed for €8 million from Dinamo Zagreb.
Taking that into consideration, Inter would be open to offers from Everton or Arsenal if the English sides decide to pursue the Croatian Midfielder in the next few days before the January window shuts.
As for Brozovic, a move to either Arsenal or Everton would be appealing, considering the requirement at both clubs as well the future. Arsenal and Everton have to be fast in their pursuit if they are to sign the Croatian International in the current January window.
