Manchester United have officially confirmed that their young French footballer Aliou Traore has signed his first professional contract with the club.

Manchester United have confirmed through their social media accounts and their official website that they have handed French youngster Aliou Traore his first professional contract. Aliou Traore joined United’s youth ranks only a month ago as Manchester United beat neighbours Manchester City and Italian giants Juventus to the prodigious Frenchman.

Aliou Traore had in fact, been at United since the summer, when the reports first broke out of the Red Devils’ success in his pursuit. But, while the player took part in training sessions from the summer itself, he was only officially announced as a United player at the start of December.

Traore made his debut for United Under-18s in the Under-18 Premier League in a 2-2 draw against Liverpool and will be hoping to get more minutes under his belt as he continues to grow under the rightful guidance of Kieran McKenna.

It is rare to see a player being awarded a professional deal within a month of joining United as a youngster. But, the former PSG player, who turned 17 on Monday, has been handed one and Head of Youth academy, Nicky Butt, seemed delighted at having locked the player down to a professional contract.

“Aliou is a tremendously gifted young player and we are all delighted to see him sign his first professional contract at Manchester United. Aliou will naturally need time to adapt, but he has an exciting future ahead of him and we are all looking forward to seeing his performances for the Under-18s in the second half of this season.”

Kieran McKenna had already highlighted Traore’s skills and potential when the player was first announced as a United player in December, 2017.

McKenna told MUTV,“Traore is a boy we’ve been looking at for a while. He is a really powerful midfielder who likes to run box to box. He is very strong technically and is improving all the time. He’s a nice man and his English is improving. He’s settling in well with the boys and has taken to the club really well.”

Aliou is the latest in a line of budding youngsters to be handed professional deals by Manchester United, the chief among them being Angel Gomes, who was being courted by the likes of Juventus and Barcelona. While Aliou is yet to become as intertwined with the fans as Angel, the 17-year-old would hope he is able to generate a similar level of excitement around his talent.
