Tottenham will reportedly revive their interest in signing Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon but they might have to shell out a whopping £50 million for the deal.
According to a report by The Sun, Tottenham are keen on securing a deal for Ryan Sessegnon, with Fulham believed to be holding out for £50 million. Spurs have been eyeing Sessegnon for quite sometime now, and have revived their interest in the teenage sensation.
Fulham are understood to be aware of the Spurs’ increasing interest in landing the teenager and the club will look to make quite some money off the deal.
The promising teen joined Fulham back in 2008 as a part of the under-nine team. It was back in June that Sessegnon signed a three-year deal at Craven Cottage in a quest to play regular first-team football despite receiving offers from Manchester United and even Tottenham Hotspur.
The versatile left-back has been the subject of a lot of attention ever since he made his senior debut for Fulham in the Championship, making 25 league appearances and scoring five goals in the process. The youngster is quite efficient and reliable while also providing flexibility in attack and overall solidity in defence.
With Spurs continuing to target the player, the move could happen in the upcoming months. The deal will prove to be beneficial, with the future of Danny Rose uncertain. The price, though, might cause some hesitancy. Even in the modern transfer market, £50 million for a 17-year-old is definitely a lot of money.
However, it can be chalked up to the fact that Sessegnon is not a player Fulham want to lose. If he does join Spurs though, it will be interesting to see how things play out. Right now, Danny Rose and Ben Davies are the top contenders for the left wing-back spot at the club. With Sessegnon in the fray, there will be increased competition.
Having said that, the teen will most certainly have to give up on his hopes of playing regular first-team football. But Mauricio Pochettino is known for elevating the game of young talents and Sessegnon should be no different. The manager will definitely provide him with game time while also playing in a style which would suit his skill set.
