Liverpool are reportedly set to join Arsenal in the race for Karim Benzema and are ready to offer upto €100 million to land the Real Madrid forward.

According to Spanish publication Diario Gol, Real Madrid could very well be due a windfall, which could go a long way in financing a move for Kylian Mbappe or any other superstar Zinedine Zidane may deem necessary. Liverpool are hot in pursuit of Karim Benzema and are ready to stump up a whopping €100 million to land the Frenchman.

Karim Benzema – a fabled part of the BBC trio at Santiago Bernabeu – has been riddled with exit rumours for a while now. The French forward joined the club from Lyon and has since established himself as one of the most feared strikers in world football.

182 goals and 104 assists for the club so far, suffice to say he is one of the best forwards that have been a part of the footballing history at Real Madrid. However, his journey could now take him to the Premier League, with Liverpool and Arsenal eyeing a move for the Frenchman.

While Dortmund also lie in wait, it is believed that Liverpool could be the favourites to land the 29-year-old. The Reds are reportedly willing to offload Divock Origi, with the player slipping down the pecking order at Anfield. But, Benzema’s pursuit could be another reason for selling the Belgian.

Jurgen Klopp does have Daniel Sturridge and Dominic Solanke at his disposal. But, while Solanke is still taking steps towards becoming a complete striker, Sturridge’s injury bouts leave Klopp with not much to choose from.

Benzema on the other hand, will not only be an upgrade, but would also add to the mentality of the squad. Liverpool already have an attack consisting of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. And Benzema’s arrival could see the Reds become one of the most enticing attacking units in European club football.

They will have to contend with Arsenal for the 29-year-old. But, according to the report, Liverpool are ready to bid up to €100 million to get Benzema, a fee Arsenal could have a problem in shelling out.

Florentino Perez has reportedly started looking at the possibility of offloading Benzema and with Liverpool ready to offer such a humongous bid, the club president might just take up the deal.
